All members were present.
Items for discussion:
- Reopening – We plan to follow CDC guidelines, that is, mask up and social distance when indoors, regardless of vaccination status..
This applies to small groups meeting in the church as well as Sunday services.
There is interest in doing an outdoor service on August 29. Rev. Joseph will check with Andy Crabb to make sure all equipment is in place.
- Buildings and grounds
The floors in Channing Hall need repair. Louisa is expecting a quote in the very near future.
- Janitorial services – Francis ‘Mickey’ Curd – who works in the Mercy Health Environmental Services department, which oversees housekeeping and sanitation, and also operates a cleaning business separate from the hospital work, took a 2-hour tour of UUYO to assess what is needed, and has submitted a quote for:
- A one-time top-to-bottom deep clean for $1,000 t be completed on 8/28/21
- Weekly cleaning at $159/week. This weekly cleaning will be quite a bit more in depth than what we have been receiving, at only a slight increase in cost. The cleaning is to be done by housekeepers at Mercy Medical. References were provided, and Louisa Berger, who has known Mr. Curd for some time, has confidence that he can deliver on what he is promising.
We unanimously agreed to proceed with this plan
- New DRE – Rev. Joseph has asked Kathleen Hogue to introduce herself to the congregation this coming Sunday via zoom during the worship service.
- Staff – we decided that all staff will need to either show proof of vaccination or documentation of a medical exemption. If not vaccinated, the staff member will interact with the congregation via zoom.
- Sanctuary accessibility – Lisbet received drawings from John Locketti which she was excited about and shared with us. We decided to have more in depth discussion at the regularly-scheduled board meeting on the 19th.
- Placement of TV- Andy, Tim, and Rev. Joseph will decide on its placement in the sanctuary.
- Workshop on Marketing and Outreach coming up – 3 sessions. Great opportunity to field a team. Several names were given to Lisbet. She will contact them about participating.
- Our next meeting will be August 19 at 6pm on the patio.
