I hope this finds everyone happy, healthy and enjoying the sunny days of summer! I’m pleased to report that our July meeting was held at the church for the first time since pre-pandemic. It was a lovely evening to gather outside on the patio to plan for and discuss the many exciting things happening at UUYO. Some of the items on the agenda included:
-Scheduling of events such as a beer and wine social to be held on August 7th on the patio.
-Viewing of a prototype of what will be our new chalice which we have commissioned local Artist, Tony Armeni, to create.
-The possibility of making adjustments to our sanctuary to better accommodate wheelchairs/walkers . . .
-Our new DRE, Kathleen Hogue, has had a tour of the building, is ready to assume the responsibilities of her new position and has plenty of good ideas!
-The newly formed partnership committee is considering local churches and organizations that may be good candidates for a cultural exchange experience.
and of course:
-Ongoing discussion about and planning for our re-opening and our hybrid worship capabilities.
I look forward to gathering with all of you, hopefully in person but always in spirit!
Respectfully, Lanore Jones
