Bits from the Board December 2021

Greetings and wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!

The final UUYO Board of Trustee meeting of 2021 was held in December via Zoom. There were many topics to be discussed in order to wrap up 2021 and prepare for what will be another exciting year of growth and development for our church . . .

– Construction on the Sanctuary Accessibility Project will get underway early 2022 – this project will make our worship space more accessible and welcoming to all!

– The pledge drive shortfall and how to move forward with the 2022 budget were discussed at length. The board will work with a newly appointed finance committee to explore grants and fundraising opportunities to garner the funds needed to enable UUYO to meet overhead costs. Any ideas or assistance is welcome!

– An Annual Meeting date was set for January 23, 2022. The nominating committee is currently seeking nominees for the open seat on the board, to be presented to the congregation at the Annual Meeting.

– A thorough Religious Education Report was given by RE Director, Kathleen Hogue. New ways to market our RE program were discussed. Please stay tuned!

–  New avenues for UUYO to build community during the pandemic were explored. We will continue to distribute the “We Believe” signs with our logo printed on the back side and to advertise on WYSU. Some new ideas were a possible pulpit exchange, adding logos of ‘partner’ churches to the back of the signs and a group picnic with other churches. Again, stay tuned!

As you can see, there is a lot going on and much to be excited about at UUYO in 2022. The board thanks you for being part of our congregation and for all that you do for our beloved community!
