Bits from the Board
March 2022
At our March 17th meeting, Lisbet White, Gene Pusateri, Louisa Berger, Lanore Jones, Judy DeGenova, Tim Raridon, Rev. Joseph and I engaged on Zoom for a robust discussion regarding all the possibilities ahead in the spring/summer season at UUYO.
Securing our finances-We continued the conversation and reviewed action steps at maintaining and expanding upon our future viability.
Promoting UUYO/Growing Membership/Fostering Leadership- We talked at length about membership outreach during the spring/summer months such as reserving a table during the YSU Festival of the Arts planned for Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10.
Promoting Religious Education- RE director, Kathleen Hogue continues to provide quality religious education to both our children and adults. As always, volunteers to assist Kathleen are greatly appreciated. Volunteers are requested for a special service on May 22, that will feature the talents of the UUYO RE class. Reach out to her during coffee hour or connect with her via email if you are interested in investing in our future: dre@uuyo.org
Community Engagement/8th Principle-Lanore Jones reported that an 8th principle meeting will take place this Sunday 3/27 directly following service. To continue honoring our 8th principle, we are looking into the possibility of forming discussion groups based on these and other trainings along with relevant texts this spring and summer. In addition, we are looking to connect with other churches in the community to expand these discussions and strengthen our commitment to the 8th principle through community engagement. If you are interested in leading or co-leading a group, please contact me: lindsay.sinkovich@gmail.com
Worship/Coffee Hour/Hospitality Teams-While the health and safety of our congregation remains our top priority, we have begun to make shifts due to revised CDC guidelines for Covid-19 safety. Masks are optional for members and guests during service and coffee hour is back! We have also brought singing back to the sanctuary, thanks in large part to our musically gifted Board Trustee, Tim Raridon. Hospitality Teams are back in action, so if you would like to volunteer as a greeter and/or to assist with coffee hour contact Linda Mohn, Hospitality Committee Chairperson at: ljmohn2005@yahoo.com.
Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, April 21st from 6pm-8pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lindsay Sinkovich, Trustee
