Ahimsa: “Absence of Injury”

Ahimsa is an important term in the Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist traditions. Commonly defined as “nonviolence,” it is literally translated from the Sanskrit as “absence of injury.” How can the guiding principles of Ahimsa guide us during this time? Rev. Joseph will facilitate.

A Few Words from Rev. Joseph

June’s Theme: “Flourishing Together”- “We  are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment  of destiny.” ~ Dr. Martin  Luther King Jr. ~ As a police chaplain for Youngstown, I attended the annual service for fallen officers. It’s a way to honor these officer’s lives, and the lives of their families. Our newly elected mayor spoke, and he said when one of us falls, we all fall together. I really liked this sentiment. It reminded me of Martin Luther King Jr. who expressed the same truth in reverse: when one of us rises, we all rise together. Read more here
