We are beginning to re-open our church to in-person gatherings! We are grateful to our UUYO Covid Advisory Committee of Sue Alexander, Jan Elias, and Ralph Malmer, for their guidance to our church board.
We plan to continue our virtual ministry simultaneously and indefinitely.
Based on CDC recommendations, vaccinated persons who are not immune-compromised are not required to mask or physical distance indoors. UUYO has adopted this recommendation. However, please be sensitive to the fact that people have different comfort and risk levels. Please be respectful of one another.
No-one will be checking anyone’s vaccination status. We are relying on the honesty and good will of friends and members as we co-create how to come back together in person.
Any immune-compromised, or unvaccinated person, and children under 12, are encouraged to continue to attend events virtually. If you must attend an event in person, please wear a mask and physical distance, for our collective safety and well-being.
June 2021 – Small groups can meet in the church, indoors
- Beginning June 1st, 2021, we will allow small groups affiliated with the church to meet in the church building. We are defining ‘small groups’ as groups of 10 or under.
- If meeting outdoors — given the lower risk of transmission — that number can be increased if there is adequate space.
- So, if your group chooses to meet in person, please continue to offer a virtual option.
- It’s also OK if your group wants to continue to meet 100% virtually!
For the time being:
- We are not opening up to rentals such as weddings, etc.
- We plan to have hybrid virtual and in person worship services, religious education, and all programming, starting in September 2021. Until then, worship for June, July & August will be completely virtual.
This is an intentionally gradual process where we are learning to come back together again, while maintaining the beautiful, virtual ministry we have created.
