The Need for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a need, but not for the reasons we commonly think. When Indigenous tribes gathered with people across the globe to protest an oil pipeline being built in North Dakota, they did so for a reason: the land was considered sacred. Up until that moment, I had never thought of land as much more than property that can be bought and sold. Thus the American dilemma. How do we reclaim the power of Thanksgiving in a way that recognizes the sacred and vulnerable?

Please bring a few cans of food to donate to the food pantry housed in Richard Brown Methodist Church. We will collect the cans during service.
