“When It Rains, It Pours: Reflections on Resilience”

Description: That time of the cycle is coming–the time when the storm breaks, and we find ourselves awash in a flood of stories by strangers about us, our friends, our families living in the Mahoning Valley. Heavy headlines underscoring loss, despair, hopelessness, helplessness, dead ends. Some might argue, we’ve had the downpours come early this time around–Northside Hospital, GM, the Vindicator, doors to opportunity: all closed.

Yet, in spite of the torrents of bad news raining down on the Valley, the sun still rises, the birds still sing sweet songs, the butterflies keep fluttering, children keep laughing and playing, and life keeps moving. We keep moving.

Come on Sunday to reflect and rejoice in the various ways that residents in the Valley remain resilient when we find ourselves caught up in the storm.
