Many important and tragic events in our country’s history have occurred in June, including the Stonewall Riots, the shooting at Pulse night club in Orlando, and the legalization of gay marriage. It is fitting that June is LGBTQ Pride month.

As many people were rallying for the legalization of gay marriage, Macklemore’s hit song “Same Love” offered some pertinent theological reflection:

“No laws gonna change us, we have to change us

 Whatever god you believe in, we come from the same one

 Strip away the fear, underneath it’s all the same love”
