We are pleased to offer 4 classrooms of Religious Education for the 2011-2012 year.
The children will be learning from the following curricula:
Pre-K/K
The children will start in the nursery, and then will hear a story from a curriculum called Storytime. The stories have a message for the children, and they will do an activity related to that story.
Young Elementary- (Grades 1-3)
The children will also be learning through stories and activities using a curriculum called Moral Tales. This is part of the Tapestry of Faith curricula that are put out by the UUA. Moral Tales attempts to provide children with the spiritual and ethical tools they will need to make choices and take actions reflective of their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values.
Intermediate (Grades 4-7)
This group will also be using a Tapestry of Faith curriculum, this one being Riddles and Mystery. This curriculum introduces and processes a Big Question. The first three echo Paul Gauguin’s famous triptych: Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? The next ten, including Does God exist? and What happens when you die?, could be found on almost anyone’s list of basic life inquiries. The final three are increasingly Unitarian Universalist: Can we ever solve life’s mystery? How can I know what to believe? What does Unitarian Universalism mean to me?
The Adolescent class: for grades 8 and up.
The curriculum for this group is called Compass Points. This is a curriculum which guides adolescents on a spiritual journey in which they have opportunities to explore their identities, their beliefs, their Unitarian Universalist faith, their relationships with others and their connections to the world. This is a continuation of the curriculum from last year.
Nursery-
Childcare for babies and children younger than kindergarten is available in our nursery.
