9:30 AM Channing Hall Jim Converse will lead a discussion of the next steps we as a congregation should take to continue building food justice and local food access. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Daniel Materna, Psy.D. and a member of our church, will discuss the outline of his upcoming book. Learn new ways of thinking about common love problems and solutions. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Ralph Malmer will talk about how ecology can help us live well. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Susie Beiersdorfer will show humorous videos about the horrendous process. Discussion will follow. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Susie Beiersdorfer will talk about the elements that make our earth precious. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Salvatore DiLiello, ND, is a naturopathic doctor with a concentration in Homeopathy and Herbology, and a Reiki/Energy Medicine Practitioner, who focuses on preventive care and wellness. He will talk about how naturopathic medicine can empower clients to achieve optimal health. Unlike orthodox medicine, naturopathy looks not at the disease but at the individual’s body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Lisa Rockwell is a medical intuitive healer and teacher whose passion is to inspire and awaken the innate ability to heal yourself and others. She will talk on Healing Modalities such as earth energy healing, healing hands, crystal healing, and reiki. Church member Hope Lovrinoff-Moran, in association with Three Paths Healing Center, will introduce the forum.

A discussion. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Al Pierce, a member of the church and Professor Emeritus of Criminal Justice at YSU, will talk about the recognition of the differences of evilness in criminal law. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Ellen and Lowell Satre will show photos and talk about their 2011 tandem bicycle adventure in France and England. This final segment will cover Brittany as well as the South of England. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Alan Jacobs, Professor of Geology at YSU, will use his DVD to describe one month in Perugia, with side trips to Assisi, Siena, and Orvieto. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Sarah Lowry, a member of the church and YSU student, will talk about activism, especially of youth, which emerged in response to the recent state and federal initiatives seeking to limit women’s access to reproductive health care. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Ellen and Lowell Satre will show photos and talk about their recent tandem bicycle adventure in France. This segment will cover Burgundy, the Loire Valley, and Brittany. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Arizona has one of the most controversial immigration laws in the United States. The UUA will hold its 2012 General Assembly in Arizona, a move that has generated controversy of its own. Former UUYO Minister Susan Frederick-Gray, a leader in resistance to the law, convinced the UUA to come to Arizona to join in the protest. We will discuss the immigration issue in general and the merits and drawbacks of the UUA’s position. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Every generation is a product of its time. The economic, political, or social events we lived through in our first 20 years shaped our values, our beliefs, and our view of the world. An awareness of these issues can make a difference in working and living with people from other generations. This is a presentation led by Liz Hill.
9:30 AM Channing Hall What is a Montessori and how does it mesh with Unitarian Universalism? Find the answers to these and other questions from UUYO parents, the Jordan-DeBruins, Fuhrman-Tomhaves, and Kirkpatricks, who have chosen this education philosophy and methodology for their children. The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley started in the UUYO education wing 37 years ago. 9:30 AM, Channing Hall John Kwolek will give a brief talk on the history, present condition and probable results of dam removal. Following the talk he will lead a discussion centered on possible revival of the Mahoning River Consortium or formation of a similar group. There is money available to active groups, so formation of such a group would be advantageous to the cause. 9:30 AM Channing Hall We will examine the concept of sustainably rebuilding our neighborhood by retrofitting foreclosed homes and hoping to resettle our neighborhood. This will be a discussion with Occupy Youngstown facilitated by Pat Rosenthal and Jim Converse. 9:30 AM Channing Hall Gary Davenport, a member of our church and a student at YSU, will talk about community organizing in Youngstown. |
