April 3 marks the opening of the Church School art show. We think you’ll be surprised and delighted by the creativity, individuality, and vigor of the art. The art work will be on display for a couple of weeks in Channing Hall.
Bulbs are sprouting, trees are budding and our young talent is blooming, too.
This course is being offered by Julie Thomas, who has taught “Tara Dance” at UUYO for many years. We are excited to have her provide this offering in association with Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (fpmt.org).
Cocoa Mocha is a family-friendly gathering that provides a safe space for all LGBTQ youth and Allies. We get together every third Friday of the month in Channing Hall for workshops, music, dancing, and good food. All LGBTQ people and Allies are welcome.
Our annual Boxing Day Gift Exchange will follow the service. Everyone is invited to bring a small, sill, funky or goofy gift, maybe a gift that you are ready to re-gift. Please wrap your present; then we will have a fun gift exchange with these presents.
Adults and children are invited. We will be decorating the church for the holidays, making ornaments and gingerbread houses, singing carols, telling and listening to Christmas stories, eating cookies and drinking cocoa! It will be a great way to usher in the season!
This is for anyone who is thinking about joining or who has joined in the last couple of years. In this fun and informative gathering, we’ll get to know each other and learn a bit about this church and Unitarian Universalism. We’ll have an overview of the history of the church, learn about how things get done at UUYO, and meet some of the leaders and doers here. We’ll also take a tour of the building, maybe uncovering a few secrets along the way. A brunch will be provided. Those who have not joined but want to will have an opportunity to join at the end of the gathering. Those who couldn’t make last spring’s “Belonging to UUYO” are welcome (and those who want to repeat are welcome too!). If you are interested in attending, please call the church office at 330.746.3067.
On Saturday, October 16, 7:00 PM at First Unitarian Universalist Church

Leslie Schaller, the Director of Programming at ACEnet, an Athens Ohio kitchen, will talk about creating a Kitchen Incubator. This would be a facility that would help food entrepreneurs create value-added products — cookies, breads, jellies, salsas, pastas, soups, and other recipes — for marketing.
“Styled similar to the Youngstown Business Incubator, it will provide space, equipment, support, and training for the startup and growth of businesses. By increasing healthy locally grown and value-added produce to the community, schools, grocers, restaurants and farmer’s markets, the Kitchen Incubator will grow green jobs and businesses, increase local farmers’ sales and bring fresh food closer to you.”
